Black Gay Dads Get A Book Deal Thanks To You Guy’s Social Media Outrage & SUPPORT

Posted on May 20 2014 - 1:04pm by Funky Dineva

“Laughing all the way to the bank! Thanks Bitches” That was my motto when I first embarked upon this whole Funky Dineva endeavor. When I started with the the wigs and the occasional lipstick, narrow minded people could not get pass the gay of it all to receive the gift of it all. The gay of it all seemed to have trumped the intellect of it, the humor of it, and the brilliance of it all. I know first hand that this is a sentiment that Kordale Lewis understands all too well. I heard a quote the other day that said something along the lines of “we will throw a party, forgive, and love a murderer, but hate a gay for loving a man” Kind of deep huh?

The framed photo above garnered Kordale Lewis and his partner Kaleb so much attention, that Kordale was offered a book deal. The fact that the photo sparked so much outrage is evidentiary of how love starved our world is. Oh well, as the old adage goes, “when life gives you lemons, turn it into lemonade”.  That’s exactly what Kordale did!

Gay Dad Reveals the Real Story Behind their Popular Family Picture

Atlanta – Kordale Lewis, one of two gay fathers who appeared in a selfie with two of his biological children, has released his much-anticipated memoir, “Picture Perfect?” with hopes to answer some of the many questions he got when the picture went viral, reaching people in all parts of the world, including Spain, France, Japan, Great Britain, Russia, the West Indies, and South America.

When Lewis, 25, snapped a picture of him and his partner, Kaleb, 25, brushing his daughters’ hair for school, he thought nothing of it. “I just thought it would be a cool picture, so I posted it on Facebook and then to Instagram,” he says. Although he had posted other family photos with him, Kaleb and their three children (son Kordale Jr. was not pictured in the viral selfie), this particular picture seemed to endear itself to people all over the world. “I think it was so interesting to so many people because it showed two black dads actively taking care of their kids and just loving them.”

The couple’s social media following jumped from 3,000 to more than 100,000 on Instagram in a matter of two days. Lewis did not anticipate the response — both positive and negative.

Some of the contrasting remarks included:

“I commend you guys for taking care of your kids and showing the world that homosexuals are just as capable as heterosexuals in raising kids in a loving home.” “I hate you gays. God should put you all on an island and burn it up.”

The worldwide recognition propelled the couple into a position where they had to be both congratulatory and defensive. Lewis, who had a traumatic, abusive childhood, felt that they best way to clear up any misconceptions about him, his family and his lifestyle was to open himself up even further. “Writing the book was scary,” admits Lewis, “because I knew this could mean even more criticism and condemnation, but I knew it was probably the only way I would ever face my past. I had buried so much for so many years, pretending like some things never existed.”

After more than 20 years of silence, Lewis pulls back the curtain of his life to reveal the less-than-perfect history behind that selfie. He describes his struggles with childhood sexual abuse, a drug-addicted mother, sexual identity, suicide, the trials of teen fatherhood, and much more. His story is a bold challenge for readers to redefine their own meaning of a perfect family.

The book is available in both print and digital versions on most online retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Sony, and Apple. For more information, visit the author’s website: ~ Press Release – All Write Advertising & Publishing

Not sure if you guys remember, but I featured Kordal & Kaleb a few months before their social media popularity soared through the roof.

“I heard a quote the other day that said something along the lines of “we will throw a party, forgive, and love a murderer, but hate a gay for loving a man” Kind of deep huh?”– actually, if youre referring to these folks welcoming home their convict family members and homeboys, thats not something i have ever done. i would also advise all ppl to keep an eye out for ex-convict family members and family friends as they are usually full of demons and are found to be child abusers in many cases. they are returning from an environment that is all hell full of sinners and crazy azz ppl.
allowing your ex convict brother to live with you and help watch your kids sounds alright on the surface but trust, from all the horror stories abuse victims share…it aint a good idea.
regarding the article, im glad this man was open about his childhood sexual abuse. its hard for most gay men to admit that bc of the shame and humiliation abuse victims feel. i wish more opened up and told the truth about what led to their homosexuality whether demonic possession or influence from abuse or environment. folks dont like telling the truth but the truth sets us free.

I don’t know where u have gained ur knowledge or what personal experience u may have but everything u said was completely ridiculous. My father was in and out of jail multiple times throughout my life. In spite of that, I would trust that man with my life and that of my future children without hesitation!! I was raped and molestered for 8 yrs of my life and it damn sure wasn’t my father that did it!! It was my mother’s never incarcerated boyfriend. The truth is jails can produce/expose undercover gay men, not abusers of children. NEWS FLASH: There are no children in jails with grown men!!!! Those who are known pedophiles are tormented due to the fact that most inmates have children and would never respect a man that does this. Pedophilia is not a disease u catch in jail, it was present before u got there!! So don’t speak on what u obliviously know nothing about. Furthermore, every abused child DOES NOT become homosexual!! I am very much a heterosexual woman despite my past and are friends with several gay men that were never sexually abused. Please sit down in several seats and read a book. Generalizations only make u look like the jackass u seem to be.

The only negative thing about him sharing his past in this book… People already believe people become gay because of sexual abuse. A lot of people don’t believe people are just born gay… that’s why the church believes you can pray gayness out of you… And by him telling the world about his sexual abuse as a child it further confirms this common fallacy/belief about gay people. Soooo… the book will be a Catch 22.

Did you ever think that maybe his abuser abused him because he was the “different” little boy?

    • Kaykay May 23, 2014 at 1:20 am - Reply

there is no gay gene found by scientists. they are not born gay

      • VoiceofReason May 23, 2014 at 12:29 pm - Reply

That means there is no biological cause, that does not mean there is no psychological cause, i.e., gender identity. And just because scientist have not located a gene yet does not mean it does not exist.

      • Dariusd2003 May 23, 2014 at 5:05 pm - Reply

There is no gay gene because genetics is a little more complicated than finding one gene that controls one’s sexual orientation.
Genetics isn’t that simple. Most scientists don’t believe that homosexuality is determined by a single gene. In fact, a great number of traits, especially complex ones relating to personality, behavior, etc. are determined by multiple genes or more accurately, the interplay of many genes with the environment. Remember that genes do not exist in a vacuum but interact with and are regulated by things like transcription factors or other proteins, meaning the genes that are expressed and what time they are expressed is determined by many factors, including environmental signals. There are epigenetics in play here afterall.

all the gays in my family are sexual abuse victims. my lesbian cousin’s mom was a prostitute who had weird men in and out of her house as well as lesbian crack head women. my gay cousin’s mom was a drug addict and prostitute as well who even dropped her boys off and abandoned them with my mom years back. my mom had to pack them up and take them back to memphis as the mom was m.i.a. she was told their mom did this all the time. another one of my gay cousin’s mom had numerous ex convict boyfriends living in her house during his childhood years. we all know they were abused at some point as the writing is on the wall. they can deny abuse all they want, but i know their horrible history b/c im family

It appears that FD has a FEW Stans…it is 2014, I agree with Pattikake, why are we acting like there has to be some hidden agenda in order for people to finally feel comfortable living in their own skin? I have been wanting for so long for closeted gay people to be able to live proudly amongst their families and peers. And now that there have been more celebrities speaking out about their sexuality [which really shouldn’t be any of our business anyhow], serving as, I guess role models for those who are not comfortable because of people like @GAWWWWDAMN, it’s the Illuminati? Or “they” want everybody to be gay? No. I don’t think so. There have been gays in this world since the beginning of time, and now, black people are getting the chance to open up about their lives being gay, because for a long time, they have had to pretend that they weren’t, and many still are.

I like the pics, esp the one of the whole family looking happy, and I think it’s heartwarming to see daddies combing their daughters’ hair. That’s just cute!

However, I want them to put shirts on when interacting with the kids. It’s family time, turn off the sexy for a minute.

I dont think theyre trying to be sexy.I just think they are in their own home and they are comfortable. Why is it that NO MATTER WHAT, we always have to put a sexual tone to it,when it comes to the gay community..LIVE AND LET LIVE!

Granted there are some who give the lGBT a bad name, the same can be said about any community. I believe and in live and Let Live. Stay out of other folks business and get your own. Especially if you can’t celebrate them.

I dont agree with homosexuals as well, but I wont talk down about them, LIKE Dineva do to EVERYONE he/she dislikes. But anyway…… The couple above look nasty and crazy to me, I dislike it and I do not get it, never want to get it. But again, I can predict that 1.9 million people on her bashing me for not being supportive and not gettin the gay life, I dont want to get it, and I dont like it. MY OPINION>>>>> its mine! SO I have a ? So, if everyone is gay and proud and lesbians and proud…. how can we procreate, since we’re all GAY and happy and excited about it. Dont we have to procreate to produce humans? I mean if we’re all GAY and thats the NORM!?!?! . because I clearly see that AMERIKKKA wants to throat F___K us with GAY pride EVERYWHERE.. TV, NFL, on blogs. I guess they want us to all be gay, Thats what Im getting from this. Buts it a forum, and Im stating how I feel, these men do not look good at all. Okay so you don’t like Funky Dineva yet…. you take the time to make a post on HIS website, you on’t like gays but yet you COMMENT on what they do? If you don’t like how America is living well…leave America? Because homosexuality is an orientation and somewhat a lifestyle. Now you can take it how you want it or just choose to be foolish and ignorant and not face the fact but just in case you didn’t know, *leans over and whispers in ear* homosexuality is in every country, and region of the world. So good luck trying to find a place that doesn’t have the sexuality you dislike so much. Because even animals and mammals are homosexuals. A simple input and search on Google can attest to that. I feel sorry that you are so offended by the lifestyle that OTHERS choose to live.

It’s sad how someone who doesn’t have anything to do with you can make you hate them so much. Perhaps you should reevaluate yourself and find what’s missing in YOURSELF before you want to condemn others. The same way you judge others is the way you’ll be judge. But I know you not hearing me or feeling me and you’re gonna probably attack me or dismiss me as a supporter. I don’t care either here or there but everyone should be treated equal. The same way a woman wants to be treated equal as a man? That’s the same way homosexuals want to be treated as heterosexuals.

“if everyone is gay and proud and lesbians and proud…. how can we procreate, since we’re all GAY and happy and excited about it. ”

First please educate yourself. You sound so buffoonish and your post reeks with idiocy. Everyone isn’t “gay and proud” just a lot of us aren’t closed minded and have more fish to fry then worry about what OTHER people are doing with their life. I could care less that these two men are together and raising those beautiful children together. As long as those kids are raised right and have a positive outlook on life, then what’s the issue?
No body wants everyone to be gay? Some people are attracted to certain things…okay so be it.

I’m just gonna stop while I’m ahead because I can see that you aren’t hearing this.
Just do everyone and yourself a favor… Please stop living your life through other people. Stop down putting other people to bring yourself up. Look into yourself and find understanding because the logic you have on society is completely misconstrued. If someone else’s lifestyle really makes you that upset than truthfully you aren’t living for yourself. You’re living for the gays and FD whom you have so much distaste for.

Have a nice day and I hope you find the self love you’re truly seeking because the hatred you have for others is consuming yourself.

Sincerly, A 17 year old females from Kansas who just graduated high school.

Oh lol thank you. Man my dad is retired military, so my father and mother have always told of to tolerate other religions, races etc to be tolerated ourselves. I feel like if the world had more tolerance we wouldn’t be so consumed with hate for others. I thank the Lord for my parents because when I look at my peers around me I’m shocked and disgusted at how they act. I am thankful that my parents have set me on the path that I walk now because I know for a fact I would NOT want to become like Gaawd Damn or any of my peers who act in such a distasteful manner. To be filled with hate because of OTHER people? I’m sorry but that’s a fool’s paradise. I have enough love and respect for myself to not condemn and hate people who have absolutely nothing to do with me. But Ma’m (or Sir) it’s all about tolerance and how you would want to be treated if the roles were reversed.

I thank you for your compliment and may God bless you as He has blessed me. Take care love.

And, I am ignorantly on the other end of the spectrum, because I can’t figure out what all the fuss is about. When I say that I am ignorant, it is because I thought that we (society) had gotten past the shock value of having 2 dads or 2 moms. I was ignorant to the fact that more athletes weren’t openly gay. When the one player came out a few months ago, I was asking different people why this is such a big deal, and I was informed that he was the only openly gay man in football. Are we serious people? In 2014, are we still worried about people who are different than us, or that have different lifestyles as we do? I am morbidly obese (fat) and to this day, when I walk out of my house all done and did, people still treat me like a leper, so I can only imagine what homosexuals are STILL having to deal with in 2014. This has nothing to do with religion; this has everything to do with FAMILY.

Dineva! honey, I love you and all, but some homosexuals make it hard for people to accept that lifestyle when all theyre doing is promoting sex. Its not our business how and when, where and why you have sex! Please keep that in the bedroom. There should be other facets to a human other than who they sleep with. That shouldnt be the identifying factor. Gays are setting themselves up for judgement when they do that. Now, these brothas seems to get that concept. They present themselves as men, and if they didnt say anything, I definitely wouldnt have known they were gay. I wish all gay people would be as respectful as these young men in this article. Its notup to the world to accept your lifestyle, that’s between you and God.

however, your approach seems comical, which did grab my attention, so win also lol
