When I tell you that the Fresh Prince girls are doing Janet Hubert in. No gawd hunty! The cast reunited for the Memorial of James Avery (Uncle Phil), and dark skin Aunt Viv Nor Will Smith were anywhere to be found. Now it is reasonable to assume that Will was booked. But chile, If jeffrey made it, Janet Hubert could have made it. I wonder if they even invited her? Chile probably not. His wife probably didn’t want all that attitude up in the banquet hall. Y’all know black people, we are good for fighting at Weddings & Funerals.
Alfonso Ribeiro Posted the above picture and wrote the following:
“We said goodbye to the amazing James Avery last night. I was honored to host the memorial for Barbara Avery. It was a wonderful tribute and celebration of his life. He will be deeply missed”
The memorial was held this past Saturday. Check out other pics? Continue reading
Poor Aunt Viv! I swear the only time this woman can get any play in the media is when she’s being asked to do some sort of where are they now show or to speak on the passing of a co-star. Hollywood knows damn well Janet Hubert can play in Law & Order or on Scandal or something. Shonda Rhimes please call Janet!
Anyway, Janet was tapped by theGrio to issue a statement on the passing of James Avery (Uncle Phil), who died New Year’s Eve from complications due to open heart surgery.
“I am home healing and was shocked to hear of James’s passing,” she says. “I think this incredible clip says it best.”
“Acting with James was like a great doubles match! He was one of the best actors I have worked with in my many years. He was like a big strong boulder, that could either crush you or shield you. He was first and foremost an actor, classically trained, climbed that ladder step by step, role by role, to become one of the most powerful TV dads that had ever been created. My heart goes out to Barbara his real wife and family and I ask that you respect her place, as his real wife with regards to her husband with request for statements from me who simply but proudly played his TV wife Vivian Banks. RIP James, all the world is a stage, and we are all merely players in this production called LIFE.”
James Avery is survived by his wife Barbara, and stepson Kevin Waters.

First, let’s recap; several years ago on the 2009 BET Awards there was a sketch that featuredJamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence starring as their past characters on their infamous shows- Sheneneh from the Martin show and Wanda from In Living Color.
That sketch was so popular that there were immediate conversations to seriously fast pace this as a film and Screen Gems quickly moved in to acquire the film. At that time, Foxx was writing it and Martin wanted to produce it as they moved together through Foxx’s Foxxhole and Lawrence’s Runteldat production banners.
On a side note the thought process at that time for additional casting was to also add Tyler Perry’s infamous Madea character, but it never got that far. There were conversations withHalle Berry who verbally agreed to also star in the film, and actress Tichina Arnold agreed later on. We even discovered George Lopez had agreed to do a cameo.
So with all of that star power and almost 18 months later what happened? Continue reading
