So We’re Glad Xscape Reunited, But Do We Really Need A Biopic? Offers Pouring In…

Posted on Mar 2 2017 - 3:29pm by Funky Dineva

It is so important for us to step outside of our own little bubbles from time to time. I for one thought the entire world would be set ablaze that Xscape reunited after 18 years. Ugghhh, the excitement has been lukewarm at best. Scrolling through the comment sections of many popular media outlets, the overall consensus has been, “great, next…”. I for one was on the moon while listening to the radio interview.

Despite my personal selfish desires of wanting to see the group back together, I’m not sure we need a biopic. Hell, wan’t the episode of ‘Unsung’ enough? In my opinion, biopics are reserved for situations where we the public don’t have any idea about what truly happen. Chile, over the last 2 decades, these ladies have done so many interviews, reality shows, and social media posts, that we all kinda get the picture. I’m glad the New Edition biopic was enough to inspire them to put their petty differences aside. However, I don’t know if it needs to be inspiring them to do no damn biopic. No shade, New Edition was a worldwide phenomenon. Exscape was a lil southern yang yang yang round the house. There is a profound difference. Correct me if I’m wrong and acknowledge me when I’m right!

Baby steps here people… Let’s first get the ladies to pop up on an upcoming award show singing a medley of their classics. Then let’s get them to do a couple spot dates with Charlie Wilson and Fantasia. Maybe after that they can take a stab at a single that is age appropriate and doesn’t sound like this 2017 nonsense. And if the stars the moon, and all the lace fronts aline, then perhaps we can take a stab at an album. Though, now that I think about it, I really don’t know where Xscape would fit in musically in 2017. The sound they had 18 years ago is no longer coveted and we damn sure don’t want to hear a bunch of 40 year old women singing about eating the booty like groceries. There needs not be a dedicated reality tv show dedicated to this, like what SWV did. NO NO NO. We don’t need that. If anything, they can we’ve the group rehearsing into Kandi’s RHOA storyline. And whatever they do, PLEASE DON’T LET TV ONE TOUCH OR LIFETIME TOUCH SH!T!

I’m not interested in either one the reunion or the biopic.

Yes please. I would watch it. Since I did not follow their career. Just like a lot of the movies it will give them so much more exposure and a chance to have new fans also. But, that would give the other two girls a chance to make some money. I like the ideal of them getting back together. They really don’t have to make new music. Their true fans will be glad to hear and to revisit their youth.

Not necessary. They were not that great. Singing skills lacking.

  4. Angela Rich March 3, 2017 at 6:49 am - Reply

They weren’t influential enough for a biopic. I honestly can’t recall any of their music.

  5. Whitney Gaspard March 3, 2017 at 6:31 am - Reply

No they don’t need a biopic I feel like that episode of unsung was enough for me so to have a whole movie no thank you.

these INDEPENDENT ladies let a bunch of “men” break their group up: Kandi sleeping with Jermain Dupree. Tiny listening to T.I. (talking ish at) Keisha’s husband management & Tamika getting pregnant. summed up in 2 seconds no need for movie!

I thought the same thing about where they would fit in musically at this stage in life. Their music was original and not really going with the trends of the time then, so they should find someone (i don’t think Kandi) to produce them putting them ahead of the rnb out today. I’m excited to see what they do. I would watch a reality show showing the RECORDING process but I think the biopic is a bit much.

It’s called LATE! No one gives a shit anymore. That unsung was enough. Truth be told I didn’t like Kandi’s voice then and still don’t care too much for it now. Shoulda Woulda Coulda…… did I already say no one cares?

Nope don’t want to see it. The time for them to reunite was at the 20th celebration of So So Def. Kandi and Tiny were the only two out of JD groups that didn’t attend. Just tour no new music please.

I would love to see their story. There were so many rumours and “stories” surrounding their break up and subsequent “beef” , i think the real Xscape fans deserce some truth telling and closure once and for all.

Nah shit it would be x rated and not for TV with all them hoeantics. They weren’t all that not enough for a biopic anyways. That’s the problem now…especially Kandi ole joker looking ass! Thinking she was bigger than what she actually was. If it weren’t for the show, nobody would be paying her any attention! Nobody was checking for her or them so nah don’t waste your efforts on a biopic. Also… Don’t nobody like Kandi! Who’s gonna buy her music? She’s loosing fans daily. Those ladies better gone and keep their distance. Them sister’s need their own group! They’re the only real singers anyways.

    • D'Wier Williams March 3, 2017 at 5:35 am - Reply

The only reason that Kandi was straight was because she was fucking Jermaine Dupri. He put her on and made sure she got her royalties from it.

I agree Dineva…I think they only got back together because of the New Edition story! We don’t need a biopic of them…I agree with one of the other ladies…Envogue though, that would be epic!

    • Meme Shaina Nicole March 2, 2017 at 9:09 pm - Reply

I think one of them did say the New Edition story inspired them to let by gones be by gones and share their legacy or something like that.

    • Pamela Robinson March 2, 2017 at 9:11 pm - Reply

OK, I’m glad of that. I didn’t watch the whole interview. I used to love Xscape.

I get annoyed when folks who have been out of the game for a long time to try to make new music because half the time the new music is horrible. They don’t need to do that. They have PLENTY of material to tour off of.
