Kandi Burrus Feels The Christmas Spirit, Pays Off Several Families Lay-Away
Tis must really be the season to be jolly. Y’all know I am good for calling Kandi Burruss cheap as hell (cause she is0. The Christmas spirit moved Kandi to come up off some of those coins and pay off a few families lay-away at a local Atlanta Burlington Coat Factory yesterday (Saturday 12/22/12). Check out some of the stuff the families had on lay-away and who suggested Kandi become a Lay-Away Angel.
It is no shock to me that the person who suggest that Kandi become a Lay-Away Angel is fellow cast-mate and celebrity hair stylist Derek J. Say what you want to say about Derek J and the creations that he wears, mama is truly a generous person. I’ve been on the receiving end of his generosity on more occasions than I can remember.
I’m sure these families where relived as hell. I remember those days when my momma would have our Christmas stuff on lay-away knowing damn well that it was going to take January’s rent money to get it out. I’m sure these lucky families were over-joyed by Kandi’s generosity. Good looking out Kandi.

Actually, I didn’t know anything about being a layaway angel. By her tweeting about it..maybe other people will do the same. Who are you to say if she is rewarded by God or not?

Yes, God bless you and your family Kandi. I remember those lay-away days too. My mom use to lay-away our xmas stuff too 97% of the time she wouldn’t afford to pay them out. But she always manage to somehow make things ok. I am so touched abt this

Gigi, I couldn’t have said it any better. Your comment was heartfelt and yes, she does deserve all blessings! I am a divorced Mom of five and when my children were younger I remember a Christmas where I too had an angel. The stranger who stood in line and without any provocation wrote a check for my sizeable balance, had no questions, no judgements. She couldn’t have known that I had just lost my “secure” upper management corporate job due to a merger, or that I was prepared to tell my children that our home, food, and utilities were Christmas. These acts of kindness bring me to tears because I have been there! Every year since then, I go to a store and pay for someone else’s layaway. Pay it forward people, not just at Christmas and no matter how small someone, somewhere needs and will appreciate the random act of kindness. Be Blessed
Wow my eyes are watering, you were truly blessed that day! My situation now is very similar to your story. I was only able to get my daughter one present this year due to a layoff, bad economy, bills, etc. but I still made sure that I bought a couple of toys for the Toys For Tots campaign. They weren’t expensive toys but it was what I could afford. My plan is to one day be able to do so much more and not have to worry about a budget. May God bless us all! Merry Christmas everyone!
@Paula, hang in there sweetie, I assure you it gets better; you will look one back one day this year will be a distant memory. I know we as parents get so upset when we can’t buy for our children but the reality is most of our babies appreciate any and everything we do no matter how small. Congrats Kandi on becoming a Law-a-way angel. I’ve always wanted to do something like that, but I just don’t have the extra funds to do it. I wish Kandi nothing but good fortune for this act of kindness.
Bless your heart for having the desire to help; one day you will be able….and even if you can’t do that my girlfriend circle adopts a family and we just divide the little ones lists, we make food baskets and try to give a family in need some sort of holiday love. This way it’s not too expensive for one person, and it feels so good when you see their faces. I know in this economy there are no “extras”!! I just wish more people that have the means would make the effort and I don’t mean just celebrities.
