Not sure if you guys have been following my tweets for the last few days where I have been saying how I don’t really like bounce music. However, I can and must give credit where credit is due. New Orleans bounce music superstar Big Freedia has landed a reality television show on Fuse Tv. Quiet as its kept, Big Freedia and other New Orleans bounce music artist are responsible for this twerking phenomenon that is taking mainstream America buy surprise. Catch these T’s

Fans soon will get a chance to delve even further into Freedia’s life and music. On Sept. 18, Fuse TV – the music television channel of the Madison Square Garden Company – will premiere “Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce,” a reality show following Freedia and other bounce artists, including Katey Red, Sissy Nobby and Mr. Ghetto (of Walmart fame) as they live and work in New Orleans and beyond. The show has been picked up for an eight-episode run. | Chicago Tribune

Not really being a fan of bounce music, I had to do a little research on Big Freedia. Believe it or not, Freedia is a really interesting person. Much like myself and NeNe Leakes, Freedia has been able to take a little bit of nothing and make a whole lot of something. Check out this short documentary on Big Freedia – The Queen Diva.

Freedia has this friend and fellow bounce music star named Sissy Nobby. Bay-Bay when I tell you this thang is funny. Miss Nobby is a hoot. Warning, you can half understand her ass, but I think that makes things even funnier. Sissy Nobby has already done a bit of reality tv. Chile Miss Nobby got sued on Judge Judy over a deposit for a performance in the park. Catch these T’s and prepare to holler!

Y’all be sure to support Big Freedia & friends! Check out videos from both Big Freedia and Sissy Nobby.

    • That’s funny you say that b/c I grew up half in DC and half in N.O. N.O. bounce doesn’t sound like go-go to me but I’ve noticed that the concepts of the genres are very similar. Both genre’s take popular songs and remix them to a local beat. In N.O., it’s a bounce beat and in D.C., it’s a go-go beat. Then, of course people make original music with those beats also. Only the people from those cities really appreciate the music. I’m lucky to be from both places so I love bounce and go-go!

  8. “It’s big Freda Bounce Queen diva… lemme see ya werk ya peter” lol… I live for Big Freda!

  9. Yyyeeeesssssssss *does wop* I love freedia and nobby now I have a reason to get cable again – !!!!

  10. Bounce is just apart of the culture down there. As soon as you hear that beat your leg start shaking and then your ass start shaking. I watch anything that represent New Orleans since I no longer live down there.

  11. I think she was on an episode of HBO’s series Treme’…based in New Orleans. Never heard of her until then…but I love the music!

  12. Can’t wait! I see where the inspiration of the Lafayette character on True Blood came from!

  13. You are next Dineva! And I will be glued to the screen when it happens! Yes Gawd!
