Last week I had the pleasure of attending one of two R&B Divas premiere parties that was thrown here in Atlanta. Expecting to pick up tid bits of information on the Atlanta girls, I was shocked when all the major tea spilled pertained to the L.A. cast. Well quiet as its kept, they say Kelly Price and her diva to the tenth power attitude has made it nearly impossible to work with her. Some of her alleged antics that were reported to me will shock you. Kelly’s name wasn’t the only one thrown in the pot. The other difficult diva I was not surprised about and you probably wont be either. Catch these T’s
We all know Kelly Price can probably sing your best backwoods baptist church singer under the table. However, I was not aware that she had reached Dianna Ross’s level or Aretha Franklin’s either. At the party I was told that Kelly price is pulling all sorts of mean diva like stunts & shows. The most consistent story was Kelly pulling down her sunglasses when people would speak to her and look the other when being spoken to. Other reports included Kelly looking straight through people while they are talking, and acting as if they are not even standing there. How rude?
I’m hesitant to say this, but I was told hands down that she is not welcomed back for season 2. Granted I know I said the same thing about Nicci Gilbert and she returned. In all actuality, I was right about Nicci. She fired her old management, she and her new management flew up to TV One and begged for her job back. Needless to say TV One gave in.
Kelly Price is not the only name that was damned at the premiere party. Former EnVogue member Dawn Robinson ran a close 2nd with Kelly in the race of negative reviews. The most consistent statement was “Dawn is crazy”. Everyone made it a point to clarify that in calling her crazy, they were not making a cliche’ blanketed statement, but that she is actually certifiably crazy. Rumors of being difficult and having a few screws loose have plagued Dawn since her very first departure from EnVogue. Let’s not turn a blind eye to the fact that Cindy, Maxine, and Terry seemed to be able to get along just fine. Nor let us forget that Dawn was cited as the reason Lucy Pearl broke up as well.
No tea no shade, but what gets me about some of these women on R&B divas is how ungrateful and delusional many of them are. Let’s not pretend like the criteria to become and R&B Diva is not the same criteria to become an entire episode of UNSUNG. Right! I’m not trying to be funny, but many of the woman from both casts need not act like their season hasn’t passed. The 90’s was how long ago? Without this R&B Divas platform some of them are so forgotten or irrelevant that they couldn’t sell out a high school gymnasium. That being said, why not use this opportunity to right a few wrongs and revive your dead career. Some of y’all may disagree with me calling their careers lifeless, but if their careers were on and popping, they wouldn’t be on this show. Everyone on this show NEEDS it, Kelly Price included. The one person who needed it least is the one person we see least, Faith Evans. Even with that, she’s pushing it. Her absenteeism is starting to make me look at her sideways.
I will say this, across both casts of R&B Divas is more talent than the entire music industry combined. That goes to show you that its about more than talent hunty. Life throws us all a curve ball every now and again, but others of us tend to get in our own way. I hope some of these ladies will stop getting in their own way. Before you know it, Joseline Hernandez is going to be selling out shows and making all the money. Yes that was a read! 🙂
