Shekinah Tearfully Says She’s Intelligent, Not Of The Hood, And Is Tired Of Being Put Down.

%name Shekinah Tearfully Says Shes Intelligent, Not Of The Hood, And Is Tired Of Being Put Down.

I’m not even going to like. I am all kinds of confused right now…

Shekinah, Tiny Harris’s infamous “ghetto friend” doesn’t really enjoy being put down and associated with every negative stigma that comes along with being hood. I mean, who would??? Though I find it kind of strange that Shekinah has graced our tv screens for for the last 5-7 years and has done nothing but glorify hood behaviors and a hood mentality. Now I love me some Shekinah, but honestly, what does she expect? Perception is reality. I can remember times on television where Shekinah herself has said things along the lines of “chile that’s too boujee, I’m too hood for that…” If Michelle Obama is the gradient for classy and Khia is the gradient for hood, then which one of these women does Shekinah most closely resemble? No shade, just calling a “thing” a “thing”. Y’all can call it respectability politics all day long, but if you don’t want all the negative stigmas associated with being hood, poor, projectic, or ghetto, then stop acting that way… Correct me when I’m wrong and acknowledge me when I’m right.

See the video below

Here is the last point I’d like to make. Shekinah says she “knows both sides.” Well if that is truly the case, then why does she only showcase one? The beautiful thing about this situation is that Shekinah has acknowledged that she doesn’t like being received by the masses the way she is, thus it’s probably motivation enough for her to make some personality and image adjustments. Just a few simple tweaks to her personality and Shekinah can be well on her way to being a rich white woman. For instance, stop being loud and saying off the wall sh!t at the wrong time. Stop hanging out with hood people. Highlight some of the more refined sides of your personality. I love me some Shekinah and i’m routing for her! We’re all rooting for her!

what I hate is why should she have to hide that side? this lil white girl running around here getting all types of rewards for being an unintelligent ghetto hood rat but black women, like Shekinah, get bashed. Eff all that. she can be who she wants to be

She was very much proud of her hood antics. That show where here and Tiny did a road trip was nothing but her living up to every ghetto stereotype. All she has ever displayed was being a crass, loud mouth, ghetto individual and now she mad people are calling a spade a spade? Oh Please, no one cares about those tears.

You can’t criticize her for the “character” she plays on tv. Her character being friends with Tiny was used to take her to the next level. She’s no different from these housewives and hip hop characters on tv. Why disrespect her hustle, but applaud the hustle of those who have instagram businesses or sell knock off purses?

Shekinah is ghetto as shit. She has portrayed that from day one along with more than a tad bit of unintelligence regardless of her southern drawl. She seemed to have turned it up a quite a few notches to be ‘noticed’ on television even more on someone else’s show. Shekinah was hilarious to a certain degree but in my opinion, that shit became annoying as hell. I can remember a few episodes where I would have a screw face on because of the shit that chick would say. She needs to remember that this is what she gave times 10 to get noticed. Nothing wrong with polishing up your act while staying true to yourself. Hell, if Joseline from LHHATL can get roles (was recently on an episode of Fox 5’s new show Star) with her illiterate ass Shekinah shouldn’t have a problem either.

Funky Dineva why is Shekinah equating “Hood” with lack of intelligence? I do feel that she definitely has gained a reputation for being a “Hood Chic” just as you, I find that if that was not her intent why did it take her 5,6,7 years to FIGURE out that was her image that she was portraying? NOW lack of intelligence I wouldn’t dare say. Intelligence is not gained nor lost by your zip code. One of the “Hoodest” people she knows is QUITE intelligent and that is T.I. so don’t fall victim to stereotypes.

I know that when she is on my screen and she is arguing with Tiny, the closed caption says “indistinct talking” . She chooses to display herself as an ignorant hood.

It”s funny how the white girl on Dr. Phil is making money based on how she acts. Ms. Cash Me Outside in rewarded for having a particular behavior. Black women act the same way are they are called hood or ghetto. We can’t win either way. If we are “proper” we’re acing white. If we act “hood” we’re ghetto.

Hood? I thought she was just being the country person that she is. Had she been too refined, no one would have related to her and she would not have garnered such popularity. Now, here is the other edge of that double-edged sword … branding wise and getting product deals is what is hampering her. However, she had some very good ideas with respect to hair care and the straws in the dryers to dry weaves all the way was ingenious. If you are not that “hood” person then who you are is who we should see all the time and not some caricature of some hood stereotype. Not everyone is going to like you but they will respect you because you are true to yourself.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with being people being a little hood but the problem is some people just don’t know how to turn it off because to be honest sometimes you need to pull that hood card out in some situations and when you don’t have that typical hood look and you pull that card people clutch them pearls when you turn up on that ass lol
