What is it about Love & Hip Hop Atlanta that makes the cast so hellbent on using homosexuality an insult? The past few months have seen at least five members of the cast using the possibility that another cast member might be gay to attack and insult them. This form of homophobia is quite common in our society that all too often treats being gay as something negative, something to be ashamed of, and something that is degrading.
Twitter has most often been the location where these homophobic arguments among the members of the cast have played out. Earlier this year, Mimi and Benzino got into an argument on Twitter which saw them both using the prospect of the other being gay to attack and insult one another. Mimi threw out that Benzino is “suppose to be a heterosexual” and that they should “talk about the dicks in his ass.” Benzino accused Mimi of having had a threesome with another woman, and having performed oral sex with another woman. Both of the are examples of straight people using the specter of homosexuality as something to attack and/or insult another person with. The idea being that not being straight is something one needs to be ashamed of. Continue reading
It is 12:30 pm on 3/8/13. I was about to step away from my computer to go to Subway and get some lunch. Somehow I ended up on Joseline Hernandez’s Twitter page, and from the looks of things, about 30 minutes ago, her and Stevie J broke up, AGAIN. In the typical Joseline fashion, she’s reverted back to calling him a down low brutha and broke. I’m not going to lie. The ish is funny each time I hear it. I think their breakups on twitter are funnier than their interactions on the TV. Check out Joseline’s tweets. PURE COMEDY! Continue reading
Not sure if this was a good look or not, but while in the middle of trying to write a post about the premiere of Love & Hip Hop New York season 3, I had to drop what I was doing and focus my attention on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. Damn, can New York get some shine without Atlanta upstaging them? Chile, Mimi Faust took her a** up to Atlanta’s V103 to put Stevie J on Blast about this “full custody” rumors Stevie started on twitter last week. Mimi also took the time out to introduce us to her new boyfriend and let us know that the reason Stevie is actin up is because she’s moved on. You are going to gag when you find out what he does for a living and who he looks like. Catch these T’s!!! Continue reading
I honestly forgot how the theme music and intro to Love & HipHop Atlanta got my adrenaline running until last night. Monday nights on television definitely have not been the same since LHHATL disappeared from the Monday night line up. As much as some folks would hate to admit, week after week, LHHATL united a large portion of the pop culture demographic as we over indulged in the antics of the cast. It felt good to take a brief trip down memory lane last night, not to mention, The Doll was a part of the show this time, so that added to the hype. If you missed last nights viewing, you can check out the full episode here. Catch these T’s Continue reading
